While great shopping, dining and sightseeing is only 7 minutes from the house, you will experience complete privacy on the grounds!
The property is beautifully wooded, but has many nice open, sunny areas. Oaks, cedars, pines, firs, madrones, birds and wildlife abound. There are pathways for walking and talking with rustic tables and chairs scattered throughout remote seating areas.
Our seasons are pronounced! We have light snow periodically in winter months, spring daffodils around April, and summer days that are in the 80s and 90s (27 - 35 Celsius) with cool nights. Autumns are strikingly colorful.
MEKHAYE was once an old mining camp (hydraulic! no shafts!) The driveway was actually the old stagecoach toll route into town. Most outbuildings are well over 100 years old and, like our barn, were built on a foundation of mining rock. These 13-acres of privacy and historical interest are a work in progress and will eventually become our retirement estate.
PLANNING A GROUP PARTY, REUNION OR RETREAT?
Mekhaye has become a favorite venue for birthday, anniversary and retirement parties, family reunions, company picnics, wedding receptions, club meetings, church retreats, barbecue-swim parties, scout campouts, day and overnight retreats and fundraising events.
If you're planning a special event, your options for accommodations are myriad.

FOOD SERVICE MADE EASY!
Our "SNAK SHAK" has restaurant quality stainless steel and butcher block serving counters, a large fridge/freezer and an upright freezer. A third chest freezer is in the carport for bulk ice storage. There are plenty of group-sized serving bowls, platters and utensils, 50 resin chairs, 4 picnic tables, four 8-foot service tables, 5 ice chests of varying sizes, four large beverage coolers, two electric coffee urns and a 12-foot charcoal-burning BBQ wagon. Should you wish to hire servers, we can refer you.
Your group is welcome to use our pond and lake, sand beach, 14' x 16' moored sunning raft with 4-step ladder, two rowboats, life jackets, water toys, horseshoe pit and lighted badminton/volleyball compound.

During those months of the year that campfires are allowed by the Fire Marshal, you can toast your toes along with your marshmallows at the 6 X 15-foot campfire pit!
If you'd like a Campfire Program, Nevada County is steeped in the arts, and we can put you in touch with an unlimited number of musicians and entertainers. In the past we have used DJs, country western and classical guitarists, and a fun musical "jack of all trades" named Alkalai, who plays the dulcimer plus a dozen hand-made old time instruments from the 1800s. We've also enjoyed middle eastern dancers, a clown, a magician and line dancing lessons!
Just about anything you can think of, we can locate for you. All, of course, charge a fee for their performances but we've found that rates are reasonable because there is so much good, local talent.

Through the gate of this private,
fenced garden area, you will find
three hot outdoor showers and a
